The Hazelwood Health Study has been established in response to the concerns of the local community about the impacts of the mine fire. Therefore, it is vitally important to keep the community updated regarding the progress of the study and any findings.
Rather than waiting until the end of the study (some 10 to 20 years after the start date), the study team are committed to releasing findings as early as possible after they become available. Because the streams are taking place over multiple years and involve multiple activities this means that there will be numerous opportunities to release information regarding study findings.
Reports that have already been released in regard to the Study’s progress and findings can be found here.
Fact sheets and summaries released to date can be found here.
In addition to the reports and summaries placed on this website, the release of study findings will also take place in multiple ways including annual community briefings, presentations to community groups and via local media. A set of guidelines for the dissemination of study findings to the community has been developed in consultation with the study Community Advisory Committee and Clinical Reference Group.
