The Hazelwood Health Study has been established in response to the concerns of the local community about the impacts of the mine fire. Therefore, it is vitally important to keep the community updated regarding the progress of the study and any findings.
Rather than waiting until the end of the study (some 10 to 20 years after the start date), the study team are committed to releasing findings as they become available. Because the streams are taking place over multiple years and involve multiple activities this means that there will be numerous opportunities to release information regarding study findings.
The release of study findings will take place in multiple ways including annual community briefings, presentations to community groups, via local media and via fact sheets and more detailed reports on this website. A set of guidelines for the dissemination of study findings to the community has been developed in consultation with the study Community Advisory Committee and Clinical Reference Group.
